The Infield Trainer was created by Steve Harrington to reinforce proper fielding mechanics by creating a controlled environment that allows athletes to work on multiple fielding techniques used to defend different types of ground balls. Whether you are performing on a softball or baseball diamond, the Infield Trainer is the most practical training tool for all skill levels. By creating potential energy with a simple tug on the ball, the Infield Trainer allows you to control the hop and speed of the ground ball, creating a fun and challenging switch up for practices and fundamental-specific workouts.

The Infield Trainer is an easy-to-use training device that can be easily transported and used in any location. Simply attach the Infield Trainer to a fence or other stationary vertical surface and watch your athlete's skill development improve dramatically and with immediate results. The Infield Trainer is excellent for use during practice, pre-game workouts, and individual skill development sessions.

Directions for Use

  • Attach the carbiner to a fence or other stationary vertical surface approximately 3-6 inches above the ground.
  • Place the Infield Trainer between your athlete's feet so that he/she has one foot on either side of the cord.
  • Situate your athlete in the proper position for fielding a ground ball.
  • Pull back on the ball to the desired height and level of tension.
  • Once the optimal height and tension are achieved, release the ball and let the training begin!

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Scout Tracker can be used for both softball and baseball and is very practical for any level of play. It's versatile and simplistic format make it easy to integrate into any existing system. The Scout Tracker's compact size (5 ½ x 8 ½) allows for convenient recording and storage of valuable information that is certain to yield useful details about your team or future opponents. It is a MUST for any coach who wants to be a step ahead of the competition.

Pitching

The Scout Tracker's 12 column pitch grid makes recording pitch sequence easy and provides both coach and player with immediate feedback to improve pitching efficiency. Strategic information such as: hitter tendencies, pitch selection and count options are revealed about the opponent. The Pitch Locator Box provides a visual representation of pitch contact made by the batter. It is also utilized to view where the opposition is pitching your batters so on the spot adjustments can be made for upcoming plate appearances.

Hitting

The Scout Tracker's all inclusive data gathering charts permit teams to examine all aspects of hitting. Note batter characteristics such as: stance, stride, hand position, swing, follow through and position in the box to determine batter strengths and weaknesses. Visual accounts of at-bat results are charted using the Field Diagram. In addition, plot the various pitch types witnessed in each at bat and label their corresponding counts making sure to indicate whether the batter was ahead or behind at the time of contact. Such valuable information will allow hitters to learn from game day results and facilitate preparation for future contests.

Scouting

Allow The Scout Tracker to aid in game day preparation by dissecting offensive and defensive information that is certain to reveal invaluable material about your opponent. Highlight pitch tendencies in relation to various hitter counts and diagram the location and outcome of each pitch. Be sure to denote the action of each pitch indicating whether it was hit, taken or fouled off.
